The Elixsure Commercial Makes no Sense to me... does it make sense to you??
Published on February 4, 2005 By Liberal Carrot In Misc
Has anyone seen the Elixsure commercial? This is basically how it goes:
The little kid is sick so he is crying like hell.
The mom reaches over to feed him liquid medicine in a spoon, but he knocks it out of her hand and it spills on his shirt. In response to this, the mother says:
"What do I do now? Do I wait? Do I give him more?"
Maybe its just because I'm not a doctor or anything, but I wasn't aware that you could take medicine by having is SOAK THROUGH YOUR PORES. "Should I wait?????" What a dumbass question. Someone take her kids away!
So the idea of this commercial is that Elixsure is like a gel, so it won't spill. That is all fine and dandy, but I'm still not getting the mom's dilemma.
Maybe it is just me and my lack of medical knowledge. If anyone knows of a reason why the mother should "wait" before giving her kid more medicine, then please tell me

Im confused!

Easy. It's the annoying/nonsensical commercials that sell. It's part a train of thought that goes "If it doesn't make sense or inconveniences someone, do it!" This logic has been behind many media decisions.

Well, it definitely catches people's attentions, so I guess it does work.

I like this! I never really thought of it that way before-
can you think of any other really lameass commercials like this?
I see this being a very funny thread-
thanks for the insight,

I actually boycott products that have commercials I don't like. Probably, it is fortunate that I don't get to watch a lot of TV and most of the commercials I hate are things that I don't like anyway. Hmmm... I sound petulant.

Point is, if it is really a stupid commercial, why should I support the stupidity by paying for the commericial by buying the product?

I also boycott places with really bad service or inept employees. I don't just mean having a bad day or understandable errors which can happen to anybody. A friend asked me if it isn't inconvenient to buy gas from a station a little further than the local one near my home. The answer is NO! In fact, my life is so much simpler by not having to deal with that person.

I'll make the assumption you were talking to me...let's see, well all Kay/Zales commercials. They try to send a romantic message. The only message I got from them is that expensive jewelery makes people love you.

There's a really stupid washing powder commercial - apparently it has some kind of UV ray deflector in it and the kid in the commercial is walking home in his school uniform that's been washed in this powder and as he walks past flowers they wilt, an old lady gets sunburnt beetroot red from head to toe and a man painting a wall the paint cracks - It's a stupid ad and it's not going to make me buy that brand.

Yes... burn old ladies... kill flowers... ruin paint...
sounds like the stuff for me!!
Great point-
let me think...
The latest car commercial- i forget what brand... about the man crashing the dummy cars with the kids and the kids going "ooh! ahh! crash another!"
I think that is in such poor taste- the idea that this brand of car can crash dazzlingly enough to entertain kids- no joke about car crashs... its no child play
thanks for the stuff to laugh about,
